SS Ovid

SS Ovid, built by J. L. Thompson & Sons, Ltd., Sunderland in 1902 and owned at the time of her loss by Shakespeare Shipping Co. Ltd. (Glover Bros.), London, was a British steamer of 4159 tons. On November 25th, 1917, Ovid, on a voyage from Bombay (India) to the Mediterranean with Admiralty cargo, was sunk by the German submarine UC-74 (Wilhelm Marschall), 65 miles from Suda Bay, Greece. 2 persons were lost.
