Haydn SS

SS Haydn, built by Short Bros., Ltd., Sunderland in 1906 and owned at the time of her loss by Orpheus Shipping Co. Ltd. (Jenneson Taylor & Co.), Sunderland, was a British steamer of 3923 tons. On September 29th, 1915, Haydn, on a voyage from Karachi (Pakistan) to Glasgow (Scotland) with a cargo of barley, was scuttled by the German submarine U-39 (Walter Forstmann), 80 miles SxE1/2E from Gavdo Island, Crete, Greece. There were no casualties.
