SS Clifford

CLIFFORD SS was a British Steam Coaster of 359 tons built in 1904 by Robert Duncan & Co, Port Glasgow, Yard No 305 for Mann, Macneal & Co., Glasgow as the CLIFFORD SS. In 1912 she was purchased by Ford Shipping Co (Mann, Macneal) and in 1915 she was requisitioned by the Admiralty as a Fleet Messenger Ship. On the 16th May 1916 she was shelled and sunk by German submarine U-38 SE of Crete (Greece).
