SS Maria

SS Maria, built by C. S. Swan & Hunter, Newcastle in 1881 and owned at the time of her loss by Barcelonesa de Navegacion, S.A., Barcelona, was a Spanish steamer of 2.159 tons. On October 5th, 1918, Maria, on a voyage from Barcelona (Spain) to Greece, was sunk by the German submarine UC-23 (Hans Georg Lübbe), Gulf of Salonica, Aegean Sea (Greece). There were no casualties.
