SS Parana

SS Parana, built by Forges & Chantiers de la Méditerranée, La Seyne in 1908 and owned at the time of her loss by Soc. Générale de Transports Maritimes à Vapeur, Marseille, was a French passenger steamer of 6248 tons. On August 24th, 1917, Parana, on a voyage from Marseille (France) to Salonica (Greece) with troops and a cargo of war material, was in convoy with Médie and Pampa, when she was torpedoed by the German submarine UC-74 (Wilhelm Marschall) in Doro Straits (Greece). Parana, however, reached Karystos Bay, Euboea (Greece), where she sank in deeper waters. 7 persons were lost.
