SS Sparti

SS Sparti was a greek passenger steamer, Piraeus Register number 91, 961 grt and 948 net tonnage, built in 1880 at Sunderland (UK). The ship belonged to the company Pad. Padaleon. On November 20, 1916, while the ship was sailing off Fleves Island (Greece) in the Saronic Gulf, was torpedoed by a German submarine. The ship managed to reach Fleves Island on it’s own. Ten people lost their lives, among others were also the crew members: Dim. Karezinis, Lukas Karras, and Ioannis Balis.
