SS Virginia

SS Virginia, built by Napier & Miller, Ltd., Glasgow in 1901 and owned at the time of her loss by Edw. Gray & Co. (E. C. Thin), Glasgow, was a British steamer of 4279 tons. On July 16th, 1916, Virginia, on a voyage from Torrevieja (Spain) to Calcutta (India) with a cargo of salt, was sunk by the German submarine UB-45 (Karl Palis), 42 miles SWxW of Cape Matapan (Greece). 2 persons were lost.
