SS Butetown

SS BUTETOWN, built by Furness, Withy & Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool in 1905 and owned at the time of her loss by Hendon SS. Co. Ltd. (McAllum, Soulidi & Co.), London, was a British steamer of 3.789 tons. On September 8th, 1916, BUTETOWN, on a voyage from Malta to Mudro (Greece) with a cargo of coal & general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine UB-47 (Wolfgang Steinbauer), 55 miles of Cape Matapan (Greece). There were no casualties.
