SS Californian

SS Californian, built by Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd., Dundee in 1902 and owned at the time of her loss by F. Leyland & Co. Ltd., Liverpool, was a British passenger steamer of 6223 tons. On November 9th, 1915, Californian, on a voyage from Salonica (Greece) to Marseille (France) in ballast, was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-35 (Waldemar Kophamel), 61 miles off Cape Matapan. 1 person was lost.
