Elax SS

Elax, built by W. Gray & Co., Ltd., West Hartlepool in 1893 and owned at the time of her loss by Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co., Ltd., London, was a British tanker of 3980 tons. On October 10th, 1916, Elax, on a voyage from Rangoon (Myanmar) to Malta with fuel oil, was sunk by the German submarine UB-43 (Hans von Mellenthin), 70 miles off Cape Matapan, Greece. There were no casualties.
