SS Firfield

SS Firfield, built by W. Gray & Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool in 1915 and owned at the time of her loss by Doughty Shipping Co. Ltd. (H. Doughty & Co.), West Hartlepool, was a British steamer of 4029 tons. On July 16th, 1917, Firfield, on a voyage from Salonica (Greece) to Port Said (Egypt) with a cargo of parcel mails, was sunk by the German submarine UC-38 (Alfred Klatt), 10 miles northwest of Cape Papas, Greece. There were no casualties.
