SS Minnewaska

SS Minnewaska, built by Harland & Wolff, Ltd., Belfast in 1909 and owned at the time of her loss by Atlantic Transport Co. Ltd., Belfast, was a British passenger steamer. On November 29th, 1916, Minnewaska, on a voyage from Alexandria (Egypt) to Malta with a cargo of troops, was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-23 (Johannes Kirchner), 1.5 miles southeast of Suda Bay, Crete (Greece). There were no casualties.
